Although the shop’s hairstylists are not licensed mental health professionals, they collaborate closely with Los Angeles-based licensed marriage and family therapist Neil Tobisman to ensure they give sound advice and can point clients in the right direction. Eldib also helps clients by giving them referrals to licensed therapists when necessary.

“Whatever they have on their mind, an issue that they can’t tell Mom, Dad, a friend… They can say it here in the barbershop,” Eldib said in an interview with CBS News.

Eldib’s initiative is a much-needed response to the unfortunate trends surrounding men’s mental health in the country. According to a 2023 study by Cleveland Clinic, 83% of men had experienced stress within the last six months of the study, but most men were still reluctant to seek therapy or professional help. By turning Entourage Barbershop into a safe space for men to share their problems, Eldib is helping to reduce the stigma around seeking help or needing someone to talk to.
